INFLUENCING THE NATIONS

"Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi (1869-1948) was the most important Indian political and spiritual leader of the 20th century. Gandhi's influence was so great that his methods were later adopted by many political activists around the world, including American civil rights leaders, such as Martin Luther King Jr" (Harley Hann, Interesting People). Gandhi was not a Christian, but he showed the most essential factor in making his life and beliefs a great influence to the world.

Not only was he smart, but Gandhi did what he did because he was moved by values and he knew what his people needed. And so without an office or political rank, Gandhi was able to wipe out the British political domination upon the nation of India and gained respect. He had compassion, boldness, time for fasts, and a moral compass which persuaded and influenced many to pursue the right things, non-violently.

As Christians, our main task in this world as His ambassador is to usher Christ into the lives of people and into nations. As we pursue to bring righteousness into lives and nations, we must continue to reflect the character of Christ through our lives. This is the most potent tool for influencing others, nearby and far. By building intimacy with Him, we will be able to continue to mirror His walk through our daily lives.

At the same time, we know that in this world we are fighting not the forces of flesh and blood, but the forces of darkness in the spiritual realm. This is why it is so important to pray and intercede for the world, so that we can bring about positive change. Through prayers and intercession, we can influence nations.

So, as we prepare for our mission activities and trips wherever we are, remember to always first take our time in building a strong intimate relationship with Christ, and in praying and interceding for souls. I pray for Christ's heart and compassion to continually be your inspiration in pursuing righteousness for the world.
